How to read these NHL standings
Rk is conference rank by points. GP is games played. W is wins. L is regulation losses. OTL is overtime or shootout losses. P is points. If teams are tied on points, the NHL uses regulation wins, then regulation-plus-overtime wins, then total wins, then head-to-head.
2026–27 is an 84-game season (42 home, 42 away). East: Atlantic and Metropolitan. West: Central and Pacific. Regular season ends 10 April 2027, then the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Carolina is the defending champion.
How many teams make the playoffs? Sixteen — eight per conference. What does OTL mean? An overtime or shootout loss; that team still gets one point.
